FAQS

Do I need to make an appointment?

If you need a general x-ray, no appointment is necessary. However, you’ll need to make an appointment for all other medical imaging tests or procedures. You can book by calling your local Vision XRAY Group practice or completing the online booking form.

Do I need a referral for my appointment?

Yes, all appointments require a referral. This is because your referrer will provide relevant clinical details on your referral, including signs, symptoms and the location of the area we’ll be testing.

The referral will also flag any conditions our doctors need to know. When detailed in a referral form, this information helps our doctors focus on your test. It also assists with our interpretation of your results. For more information about referrals, we recommend reading this article by NPS Medicinewise.

Do I need to prepare for my test or procedure?

When you make an appointment for a medical imaging test or procedure, our friendly staff will explain any preparation required. We also recommend visiting our SERVICE section. Each service features a patient guide covering how to prepare and what to expect during your appointment. We also recommend browsing our BLOG, which has helpful information from our expert team.

What do I need to bring to my medical imaging appointment?

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • referral
  • previous films
  • if asthmatic or diabetic, please bring your asthmatic medication and a list of your diabetic medications.
I’m worried about the impact of radiation on my health

There’s no need to be concerned about radiation. We care about your health and the health of our expert team. That’s why our ethos is to deliver the highest quality images with the lowest radiation dose possible. Please visit our ABOUT page, where you’ll find our low-dose radiation commitment statement. For more information, we recommend reading our blogs, Is X-ray Technology Safe? and Managing Radiation in Radiology.

How do I get my results?

Your results will be securely transmitted to your referrer. If needed more urgently, we can give you the results, and our Doctors can contact your referrer directly to discuss the results.

Are my medical information and results safe?

Our integrated Radiology Information System and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) securely store all information and images about your test. They are available online to your referrer, enabling them to get your results in real-time. Keeping them securely online also allows your referrer to access them in the future. For more information, please visit our PRIVACY POLICY page.

What are your billing policies, and how do I pay?

Please visit our BILLING POLICIES page for information about private billing, bulk billing, workers compensation/insurance claims and more. We accept all major credit and debit cards (except Amex) and cash payments. Please note: Vision XRAY Group does not accept personal cheques. If you have any questions, our friendly team are always happy to help!
